The Statue of Mary Stuart is placed in Jardin du Luxembourg.
Mary Stuart, or Mary Queen of Scots (1542 - 1567), was the daughter of King James V of Scotland. She married Francis II of France in 1558, but did not have any children with him. Having been accused of treason, she was held prisoner for 19 years by her cousin once removed, Elisabeth I, who finally signed her death warrant in 1567. She was beheaded in Fotheringhay Castle in England on 8 February 1587.
The marble statue of Mary Stuart was created by Jean-Jacques Feuchère in 1846. She stands holding a bible in her left hand to her heart and a cloth in her right. On hear head she wears a bonnet with a small crown.
